Here is ATO Press Center report available in Ukrainian at www.facebook.com/ato.news

Last 24 hours in ATO zone, same as previous day, were tense. The enemy fired in all directions along the contact line. As usual most of provocative shelling happened near Donetsk. Terrorists fired in the direction of Opytne, Mariinka, Pisky, Nevelske, Novhorodske and Avdiivka using high caliber machine guns, grenade launchers and small fire arms.

Mercenaries shelled Mayorske, Zaitseve, Stanytia Luhanska, Hranitne and Shyrokyne using mortars, weapon of BMP armored vehicles. grenade launchers and small fire arms. In total from 18:00 last evening and till 6 in the morning there 37 shelling.

As for the previous 12 hours, ATO Press Center didn’t report the number of cease-fire violations in the East of Ukraine, so it’s impossible to calculate the total amount of Russian terrorists attacks in the last 24 hour. Obviously that number dramatically increased comparing to the last few days.

Yesterday National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reported that in the last 24 hours no Ukrainian soldier was killed and only one was wounded during military actions. Also 2 soldiers of Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed by a landmine near Krymske village in Lugansk Region. See report here http://mediarnbo.org

Lugansk Regional Administration also reported that yesterday on November 22 one Ukrainian soldier was killed and another one was wounded by a land mine near Malynove village when they were moving on a vehicle.

This village is located on the way to checkpoint in Stanytsia Luhanska, hundreds of vehicles go that direction to pick up their relatives and friends. There could be more victims if civilian vehicle got on that mine.

ATO Press Center also posted report on the situation in Donetsk and Lugansk Region in the last few hours. See original post in Ukrainian at www.facebook.com/ato.news

Starting from 18:00 yesterday Russian-terrorist mercenaries continued shelling our positions in all directions. Terrorists opened provocative fire near Donetsk at Opytne, Pisky, Mariinka, Novhorodske, Novoselivka Druha, Verhnyotoretske, Krasnohorivka and Avdiivka using BMP armored vehicles, high caliber machine guns and small fire arms. Also terrorists used 82 mm mortars shelling Avdiivka.

On Artemivsk direction terrorists shelled Mayorsk using high caliber machine guns and small fire arms. On Mariupol direction they attacked Lomakyne using small fire arms. Also mercenaries attacked our positions near Novotoshkivske and Shyrokyne. There was an attack on Ukrainian positions at about 20:00 near Verhnyotoretske village, the enemy retreated from the battlefield. During 2 hours fight Russian-terrorist forces used not only BMP-2 armored vehicle, high caliber machine guns and small fire arms, but they also use 82 mm mortars that should be withdrawn from the contact line according to Minsk Agreements.

Lugansk Regional State Administration posted more details about terrorist attack on Ukrainian positions near Novotoshkivske. See original report in Ukrainian at www.facebook.com/odalug.

Yesterday near checkpoint #29 located close to Novotoshkivske village saboteur group of about 9 men were trying to break through the front line. Militants were trying to pass by the checkpoint by a path near the checkpoint. As a result soldiers of 24th brigade got in a fight. There were no killed or wounded from the Ukrainian side, one terrorist was killed and two more were wounded.

Militants were running so fast that they left one of the killed terrorist in the forest. Probably those were same terrorists who were saying that they managed to put their flag near the checkpoint. Our soldiers pushed them back. I think that now saboteurs of militants will know that any of them can die for the rag that they put near the checkpoint.

First checkpoint to occupied territory finally opened in Lugansk Region today

First checkpoint to occupied territory finally opened in Lugansk Region today. Now residents can cross the contact line and get to the territory controlled by so-called Lugansk People’s Republic. The checkpoint was opened in Stanytsia Luhanska. Before locals could get to Lugansk only through Donetsk Region or via Russia.

The checkpoint opened today can only serve pedestrians, so it’s not possible to drive there. The head of Lugansk Regional Military-Civil Administration George Tuka personally arrived to the checkpoint to see how it works.

Buses near the checkpoint in Stanytsia Luhanska

Buses near the checkpoint in Stanytsia Luhanska

After crossing the checkpoint people can get on bus and travel into two directions, to Bilovodsk and to Severodonetsk. Near the checkpoint there is also an open market and a department of State Bank “Oschadbank

It’s hard to overestimate the opening of the checkpoint as there was no single official checkpoint in Lugansk Region for a long time. That was because of several reasons. First of all the contact line in Lugansk Region goes along the river. The bridges were destroyed and at the places where it was still possible to go there were fights all the time. The checkpoint in Stanytsia Luhanska is for pedestrians only because the bridge is still destroyed. We also plan to open logistics center in Novotoshkivske and that will probably become fully operational checkpoint. We are also thinking about possibility to open checkpoint near Zolote.

– George Tuka

After talking to people at the checkpoint George Tuka said that the people mostly interested in the procedure of getting a pass.

We are running information campaign explaining how to get a pass. Every time me, border guards and Security Service of Ukraine were emphasizing that people should get pass. We said many times that it will be possible to go through the checkpoint only for those who have a pass. Nobody will compromise on that.

George Tuka

The head of administration of Stanytsia Luhanska Yuriy Zolkin said that state registries were unblocked in the city. So now it is also possible to get inheritance, do real-estate deals and other legal documents there.

Terrorists continue provocative attacks in the region. Saboteur groups infiltrate to Ukraine control territory. Despite the cease-fire in the region it’s not totally quiet in the area, unfortunately.

128th brigade of Ukrainian Army lost 2 KIA and 2 WIA after terrorists attack in Lugansk Region

Yesterday on Septerber 7 2 Ukrainian soldiers of 128th brigade got killed and 2 more wounded after attack of saboteur group near the contact line on Ukraine controlled part of Lugansk Region near Bolotene village. This happened after yesterday’s report about 5 dead terrorists found in that area who got killed by landmines.

Probably terrorist’s saboteur group got on Ukraine controlled territory to take bodies of their men… But terrorists didn’t know that those bodies were already taken away. Now police is trying to identify killed saboteurs.

Bodies of 5 LPR insurgents who died on a minefield found by Ukrainian soldiers in Lugansk Region

Yesterday on September 6 at about 4 pm soldiers of 128th brigade of Armed Forces of Ukraine found 5 bodies near Siverskiy Donets River in the area of Bolotene village. The men died about 2 weeks ago from wounds caused by mine explosions. They were dressed in camouflaged uniform and had automatic weapon and other ammunition with them, no IDs were found. More likely the insurgents of Lugansk People’s Republic were trying to get on Ukraine controlled territory of Lugansk Region and got trapped on a minefield after they crossed the contact line that goes along the river.

One of the insurgents had Russian flag on his uniform and insignia the terrorist group “Batman”. This type of insignia is used by the terrorist group whose leader with nickname “Batman” was killed at the beginning of 2015 by other pro-Russian terrorists.

Unfortunately, one Ukrainian solider of 128th brigade got wounded by a landmine while checking the place where enemy saboteur group died. He was taken to the hospital and he got all medical help needed. The number of shelling decreased, but this type of saboteur groups can be dangerous. Terrorists are using their men as cannon fodder sending to minefields in order to check if it’s possible for new saboteur groups to go through there.

We’ve got casualties, the group that works near Shchastya, the one that was under sniper fire few days ago. L200 volunteer’s car. There were no border guards in the group. The enemy was waiting for us about 800 meters from the contact line, probably wanted to capture POW. 1st they threw 2 grenades and after that opened fire from guns. Our guys were defending until support arrived. 1 volunteer and 1 man from tax service got killed, 1 Security Service officer and 3 paratroopers were wounded.

– Rodion Shovkoshytnyi

The group that was attacked was hunting for those who are involved in illegal transportation of goods to the territory which is currently under control of so-called Lugansk People’s Republic. Few days ago on August 28 at about 13:00 their vehicle was attacked near Shchastya. The sniper opened fire, bulletproof glass got broken, luckily nobody was inside the car at that moment.

The head of Civil-Military Administration of Lugansk Region George Tuka also commented on the situation. The volunteer who was killed in the morning was his close friend. See Tuka’s post www.facebook.com/george.tuka

Now I am talking not as official. Now I am volunteer! Now I am simple guy. Mobile group was attacked. 2 guys got killed and 4 wounded. One of those who dies is my FRIEND!!! MY PERSONAL FRIEND!!! Very honest guy, patriot and real Hero! Warrior and volunteer. Andrey was asked to switch to go to another sector, I asked him to stay and work more in the area near Shchastya. This conversation was yesterday. And today in the morning Andrey got killed… I guess I know who did that. I know this bastard is reading this and he is watching my activity. From now on you are not just a huckster. You are my personal enemy!

UPDATE. September 3, 2015. OSCE observers visited the hospital where wounded Ukrainian soldiers were delivered to.

The SMM visited a hospital in Shchastia (20km north of Luhansk) and saw four injured men who, according to a police officer, had been ambushed travelling within two kilometres of the contact line between the government-controlled towns of Lopaskyne and Lobacheve (24km and 18km north-west of Luhansk) early on 2 September. The police officer told the SMM that five civilian volunteers supporting the Anti-Terrorism Operation and one tax inspector were ambushed with rocket propelled grenades and small arms fired by unknown persons. A nearby Ukrainian Armed Forces unit had heard the firing and rushed to the scene, where a fire fight had ensued. According to hospital staff in Shchastia, two individuals had died (the tax inspector and a civilian volunteer) with the remaining four hospitalized with injuries. A doctor at Novoaidar hospital told the SMM that two soldiers – who had rushed to the scene – had been admitted, and are in a critical condition.

People present there prayed for those who got killed and stood together in a moment of silence.

I want to say that my son was a regular young man of 20 y.o. who always believed that Lugansk will be liberated. And I think it is going to be that way. Thank you for protecting the unity of Ukraine. Ukraine is alive and it’s impossible to divide it. We must appreciate it, young men proved that paying with their lives.

Border guards are 1st who meet the enemy on the border. I have no doubts that none of us was ready for this situation. For many of us that was a shock. We must appreciate those suns, husbands and fathers who didn’t step back. I understand that was unequal battle. The enemy had armored vehicles and helicopters. Could our boys retreat? Yes, sure they could. And I don’t know if any of us would have words to judge them for that. But they didn’t retreat and the enemy had to run away. They protected us. I put my head down in front of their friends and relatives. Sure, we can’t return those boys. But this should be a lesson for all of us. I want to say sorry to their parents, sorry that we couldn’t save your children.

People of Severodonetsk celebrate Independence Day of Ukraine.

Severodonetsk is one of the cities of Lugansk Region that was liberated from pro-Russian terrorists last year. Most of the Ukrainian authorities were moved there from occupied Lugansk. Yesterday people of Severodonetsk were celebrating the Independence Day of Ukraine together with the rest of the country.

People of Severodonetsk celebrating Independence Day of Ukraine

I am very happy to see so many people here. Let’s remember what happened in the past. A gang of bastards, pathological kleptomaniacs, 1st were raping Donbas and after that they spread all around Ukraine. At the moment when people rebelled against those scums, those monsters run away. 1st time in the last 24 years we got an opportunity for development and not for slavery. And at that moment we got 1st “brotherly” stab in the back, that was in Crimea. We didn’t have time to recover and same bastards that were raping Donbas started a war here, telling people myths about “Russian world” and “Donbas can’t be put on the knees”. Sure you can’t “Put Donbass on the knees”, because after 15 years it was put down on the ground. Those people are trying to separate us bases on different characteristics. But they will fail. We are all united by one thing. You can’t choose your parents, and same way nobody can choose his Motherland. Our Motherland is Ukraine. We live on the land that was given to us by God and we will not give it away to anyone. I congratulate you all with the Independence Day of Ukraine.
